The Anne Arundel South County Democratic Club is an activist and social group based in the southern portion of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, typically referred to as "South County." Our group is dedicated to advancing progressive policy issues and electing qualified Democratic candidates to office in Maryland. March 19 - AA County Democratic Women Meeting featuring Guest Speaker Martha McKenna, Chair of Emerge Maryland. Meeting at St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Annapolis. $10 ticket may be purchased at http://www.aademocraticwomen.org. Click here for a flyer with all details.
March 23 - AA County Young Democrats Meeting - Castlebay Irish Pub, 193A Main Street, Annapolis.5:30-7:30pm. All age 18-35 are welcome.
April 5 - Meeting at Pirates Cove with Nick Berry, Capital columnist, speaking on the issues of the day, particularly related to our foreign relations and national security. Meeting at 7pm and optional dinner (at your expense) at 6pm.
May 3 - We welcome back Barry Rascovar, political writer, to provide a legislative round-up after the session concludes. Meeting at Pirates Cove at 7pm with optional dinner (at your expense) at 6pm.
May 11 - AACDCC Annual Celebration Dinner at Maritime Institute Conference Center in Linthicum Heights. 6:30-9:30pm. Visit this link to register.
June 7 - Summer picnic will feature guest speaker Kathleen Koch, Executive Director of the Arundel Community Development Services, Inc. on the state of affordable housing in Anne Arundel County. Location TBD.
Note: We will continue to collect donations for SCAN and the requested items for this month are peanut butter, jelly and hearty soups. Please bring these to our meeting. Checks are also helpful. We will also collect dues at all meetings - $25/person for 2017.

March 13 - Maryland State Education Association’s March to Protect Our Schools, 5:00 pm, meet at MSEA Headquarters, 140 Main Street in Annapolis. Short speech. 5:45 pm march to State House and visit with legislators to ask them to: (1) Set a 2% cap on annual instructional time used for mandated standardized testing; (2) Defeat Gov. Hogan’s proposal to lower standards for charter schools, increase charter funding, and fund private school vouchers with your taxpayer dollars.

Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence could use your help to monitor the MD Handgun Permit Review Board meetings twice a month in Crownsville. If you'd like to help by sitting in on their meetings to ensure they know the public is monitoring their decisions to allow wear and carry permits, please contact Shelly Bray here.

A new website, https://corrupt.af/ is tracking conflicts of interest and corruption in the Trump administration. The count started at 62 in December 2016, 75 in January, 147 in February, and 181 and climbing in March.

We were proud to support Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine for President/VP and glad Maryland stood strong for them.

Visit the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center website here to watch the series of lectures "Making Sense of Climate Change" given by Dr. Bert Drake over 6 weeks in early 2017. Bert Drake is an emeritus scientist and plant physiologist with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. He has spent more than 40 years tracking how plants respond to changes in temperature, water and carbon dioxide. In 1987 he created the Global Change Research Wetland, which now houses the longest-running field experiment on plants and rising carbon dioxide in the world.
